A Freshman’s Guide to University Lectures: 5 tips to note.

If you’re getting ready to start your university education, here’s a heads up – you’re going to be spending a lot of time in lectures, follow these tips to make the most out of them.

Mind where you sit

Sitting in the front seat makes you pay attention better and gives you a clearer view of the PowerPoint Presentation. If you don’t want to be distracted, try the front or middle seats.

Recording lectures

You can use your phone or dictaphone if you can afford one, but recording lectures is a good way to recap your lessons without missing a thing. Pro tip: don’t dismiss the class because you plan to listen to the recording later, pay attention as well.

Taking Notes

This is a great skill to have. Make your notes more interactive with highlighters or different coloured pens. This helps to keep important points in focus and reading them is easier.

Ask Questions

Don’t be afraid to ask questions; university lecturers can be fast paced or confusing if you zone out. If you ever feel lost, do not hesitate to put up your hand for clarification.

Make Friends

Life in university is ten times better when you have friends. They’ll keep you amused during lectures and are a great resource to compare notes with after class.

Lectures are always better when you are engaged. Try out these tips and make the most of them.
